Sleek interior doors add the finishing touch to a minimalist interior
Minimalist interior doors with an invisible ARLU frame have been fitted in a modern new-build home in Zele, Belgium. The doors with invisible frame may look sleek and simple, but the production and installation of custom work such as this is by no means easy. Craftsmanship in production and execution comes at a price, now more than ever, but the result is a high-quality door that will last a lifetime.
The interior doors were made and installed by Dierick Deuren. Jonathan De Sloover explains, “The invisible aluminium frame is plastered in, hiding the technical elements from view and ensuring the door fits perfectly flush with the wall. This means the closed doors form a single whole with the walls. There are basically no frames and the hinges are mounted in such a way that they cannot be seen from the outside.”
Combination of revolving doors and sliding doors
Dierick Deuren installed seven argenta invisidoor DL doors and two invisidoor SDX integrated sliding doors in this new building. Thanks to the SDX built-in system, the latter ensures the open feeling remains while retaining the ability to quickly separate into two rooms. With the door leaf sliding into the wall, not one square centimetre of wall is lost in the house. And this adds huge value in terms of space saving in increasingly compact homes.
Dierick Deuren prefers to work with the DL version. “The accompanying neo S5 hinges are equipped with an ‘easy hook’ system that makes installation simple. For example, a single person can hang and remove doors. This is handy for us as carpenters, as well as for the plasterer and painter."
Simplicity in appearance requires professional knowledge
“These types of minimalist doors always involve more technical equipment and require more expertise than a classic interior door with a door leaf and frame. The fitting of the aluminium door frame, the neo S5 hinges, and magnetic lock is custom work, and must therefore be done with great care. The frames must be affixed both mechanically and with installation foam."
